John’s Pharmacy is pleased to announce that it will assume ownership and operation of Saint Francis Healthcare System’s retail pharmacy, situated at the Poplar Bluff Campus (Coppertop), beginning January 18, 2026. The pharmacy will remain in its current location at 225 Physicians Park, ensuring uninterrupted access and maintaining the continuity of care for patients.
John’s Pharmacy is a trusted, locally owned community pharmacy with more than 35 years of service to Southeast Missouri, including nine years of service to Poplar Bluff. This transition reflects John’s Pharmacy’s ongoing commitment to strengthening local healthcare access and investing in the long-term well-being of the Poplar Bluff community.
This announcement follows the recent news that Missouri Highlands Health Care will acquire the Saint Francis Poplar Bluff campus, marking a significant shift in the delivery of local healthcare services. As part of this transition, Missouri Highlands and John’s Pharmacy plan to work closely together to ensure patients continue to receive seamless, high-quality care, with a shared focus on access, coordination, and community well-being.
“Strong partnerships are essential during times of change,” said Karen White, Chief Executive Officer of Missouri Highlands Health Care. “As Missouri Highlands prepares to assume stewardship of the Poplar Bluff campus, we are committed to working alongside trusted community partners like John’s Pharmacy to ensure patients feel supported, informed, and well cared for throughout this transition.”
“We love Poplar Bluff,” said Abe Funk, owner of John’s Pharmacy. “Keeping the pharmacy in the same location was a priority, and we are fully committed to continued investment in our people, our staff, and the patients who rely on this pharmacy every day.”
Patients can expect the same focus on personalized care, safety, and service excellence that has long defined both Saint Francis Healthcare System and John’s Pharmacy. Prescription records will be securely transferred to ensure continuity of care, and no immediate action is required from patients.
John’s Pharmacy plans to continue building on the strong foundation already in place, with ongoing investments in staff, technology, and patient services designed to meet the evolving needs of the Poplar Bluff community.
“We see this transition not just as a change in ownership, but as a renewed commitment to local healthcare,” Funk added. “We are here for the long haul.”
For questions regarding the transition, patients are encouraged to speak with a pharmacy team member during their next visit.
